1. Amadeus: When shooting the scene in which Salieri is writing down death mass under Mozart dictation, Tom Hulce was deliberately skipping lines to confuse F. Murray Abraham, in order to achieve the impression that Salieri wasn't able to fully understand the music he was dictated.

2. Contact: The succession of colors in the space tunnel match the colors of the chakra points as described in the New Age "religion", starting with red (materialism) and reaching gold (enlightenment). The SFX crew deliberately inserted contradicting images in the Pensacola scene at the end, to create a dreamlike feeling. So the beach is brightly lit with no sun in sight, the waves move backwards and the shadows slowly change from one scene to the next.

3. Across the Universe: During the Thanksgiving dinner scene, Lucy's and Max's grandmother remarks that "the cranberry sauce isn't as tangy as last year," referencing the use of the words "cranberry sauce" uttered by John in the song "Strawberry Fields Forever" which was often misheard as "I buried Paul," adding to the myth that Paul was dead.

4. Pan's Labyrinth: Guillermo del Toro is famous for compiling books full of notes and drawings about his ideas before turning them into films, something he regards as essential to the process. He left years worth of notes for this film in the back of a cab, and when he discovered them missing, he thought it was the end of the project. However, the cab driver found them and, realizing their importance, tracked him down and returned them at great personal difficulty and expense. Del Toro was convinced that this was a blessing and it made him ever more determined to complete the film.

5. Labyrinth: David Bowie was one of the three choices for Jareth. The other two were Michael Jackson and Sting.

6. The Others: Nicole Kidman originally tried to persuade Alejandro Amenabar and the Weinstein brothers to find another actress for the part. Coming off the bright and exuberant "Moulin Rouge!" (2001), the actress was initially reluctant to do a film that explored such dark places.

7. Hawaii: The fictional character of Malama in James Michener's book and subsequently in this movie, was based on Queen Ka'ahumanu, the actual ruler of Maui at the time of the missionaries' arrival in the islands. It was she who welcomed the missionaries onto the island, passed the laws against the sailors and who converted to Christianity shortly before her death, just as Malama does in the film. Malama was expertly portrayed in the film by Jocelyn LaGarde, a Tahitian actress who resembled the actual Queen Ka'ahumanu in every way except one... Queen Ka'ahumanu was supposedly very heavily tattooed.

8.Artificial Intelligence: AI: The movie was originally to be titled A.I., but after a survey it was revealed that too many people thought it was A1. The title was changed to A.I. Artificial Intelligence to prevent people from thinking it was about steak sauce.

9. Moulin Rouge!: Originally, the green fairy was going to be a long-haired muscle man with a giant sitar and Ozzy Osbourne was hired to provide the vocals. Eventually it was changed to the current "Tinker Bell" incarnation, played by Kylie Minogue, but Osbourne still gives voice to the fairy's guttural scream when it turns evil.

10. Beneath the Planet of the Apes: As of January 2008 the total domestic gross for "Beneath the Planet of the Apes" is estimated at $18,999,718. Because of its modest budget of just $3 million, percentage-wise "Beneath," despite wide agreement that it's one of the worst of the series, has remained the most profitable of all the "Apes" films, including the 2001

Watched 'Knowing' yesterday, which was an ok, decent movie.  The scenes that were supposed to be moving, didn't move me much.  Hard for me to feel to much for the child roles, when the acting is so terrible.  Tonight watched 'Phoebe in Wonderland' about a child with some sort of terect disorder.  Of course they don't tell you that till the end of the movie.  Eh, could have passed on that one....tho the child actors were very good and Patricia Clarkson was excellant as the drama teacher.
